In addition to providing clinical services and teaching responsibilities, family
medicine faculty members engage in a wide variety of research programs. Special
areas of emphasis in the department include health behavior change,
physician-patient communication, chronic illness care, women's health, and
health disparities (lessening disparities, role of culture in medicine, etc.)
